Director of Tennis: Stephan de Kock

Currently Stephan de Kock, his wife Megan, daughter Rileigh and son Gabriel resides in Cape Town, South Africa.

Over the years, Stephan has developed a training philosophy that concentrates on performance based coaching, precise stroke technique, efficient movement and footwork, mental focus and strategic shot selection.

Unfortunately Stephan’s tennis playing days ended with two consecutive shoulder operations. This inspired him to be involved with tennis on a coaching front working and developing top National Juniors and working with players on the ATP tour.

Through the years Stephan has travelled to all local Top Junior Tournaments in South Africa and numerous Junior ITF tournaments in South Africa, Africa and Internationally. He also has travelled globally with players to ITF Futures, ATP Challengers and ATP Tour events.

Working with Raven Klaasen on a full time basis (since 2007-2015) and assisting Raven to become a doubles specialist ranked 18 in the world on the ATP Doubles rankings in March 2014 have been one of the few success stories. During 2014/5

Stephan assisted players to reach their top Junior Rankings, Francois Kellerman Jnr ITF 105, Okkie Kellerman Jnr ITF 180 and Calvin Jordaan Jnr ITF 250.

Stephan have represented his country – South Africa on numerous occasions as a National coach for varios Junior and Senior events. In 2015 Stephan was assistant coach for Earl Granger during the Davis Cup ties with Turkey and Irland. Another hilight for coach Stephan was during the African Junior Cup in 2015 in Egypt where his u/18 boys won the doubles title.

Stephan also work with many players that competed on the ITF Future and ATP Challenger Tour during the period of 2009 to 2012. Coached Steffen Solomon (former Jacksonville Univ. Player) on a full time basis and reached an ATP Ranking of 1106. Mark Fynn (Former No.1 player at Univ. Of Tennessee, Chattanooga) Zimbabwe Davis Cup player and All African Games Bronze medallist reached a high of ATP Ranking of 950.

Stephan also assisted Theodoros Angelinos (Former University of Virginia player) on a part time basis. Teddy reached a Career high on the ATP 396, and represented Greece at Davis Cup.
Coaching numerous top ranked juniors in South Africa, he assisted players such as Ronaldo Duminey (2008), Jody Claasen (2010), MC Visser (2011) and Mikayla Morkel brink(2009) to National titles.
Stephan Coached the National Senior champion of South Africa in 2009 and 2010.

In Dec 2010 during the off season Stephan spend valuable time with Philipp Kohlschreiber (ATP singles ranking of 22) and his Coach Miles Maclagan preparing for the 2011 ATP season.
Stephan assisted and various training camps with top level players in Dec 2009 and 2010. Stephan and Pietie Norval hosted these training camps with the following players Rik de Voest, Izak van der Merwe, Jeff Coetzee, Raven Klaasen and South Africa’s young and upcoming players Ruan Roelofse and Nikalla Scholtz.

During the off season in 2007, Stephan trained Kevin Ulleyett (Top 10 ATP Doubles player) and also assist him in his preparations for Australian Open 2008, where he made the 3rd round.

During the years he has sent many players from his program to the USA on College scholarships to further their careers. The following players that have been developed from his program are as follows.: Mikayla Morkel Brink 2012/13 Scholarship at the Univ. of San Diego , Jason Mechali 2012/13 Scholarship at the Oral Roberts Univ. Oklahoma, MC Visser 2011/12 William Carry University, Kevin Klaasen 2011/12 Scholarship offer to Bethel University, Jody Claasen 2010 William Carry University, Letha Gaigher 2010 University of Louisiana at Monroe, , Renaldo Domoney 2007 University of Portland, Nicole Smith 2007 Louisiana State University/LSU Baton Rouge, Kelvin de Wet 2006 Samford University, just to name a few.

Stephan was on numerous occasions a training partner for top players on the WTA tour. He assisted as a hitting partner for the South African FED Cup Team in 2003 under Marian de Swart and then in 2003 at the Family Circle Cup assisted as a training partner for Anna Kournikova’s as well as during 2001 at the MTN Challenger’s Tournament. This is just to name a few.

In 2002/3 season Stephan de Kock was signed by Francis Marion Univ. in S.C. to play college tennis in the USA. At that stage Ranked top 12 NCAA II. During the period of 2001 and 2004 Stephan played numerous ITF Satellites and Future tournaments and was based at College Park Maryland, USA with Rozell Lightfoot and Grant Stafford.

During Stephan’s junior career he trained at the ITF (International Tennis Federation) Africa Centre where he was under the guidance of Dermot Sweeney Director of the ITF Africa Centre.
Represented his province (state) from 1995 – 1997 and again 1999-2000 in Inter provincial tournaments and USSASA. Stephan maintained a Top National ranking in his junior career. During his u/18 year he played many junior ITF tournaments and other tournaments in and around South Africa.

Stephan attended High school at the “Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool” better known as “Affies” in Pretoria, South Africa. At that stage the best tennis high school in the country with 13 consecutive national titles. He represented his team on numerous accounts, which won the league and partaked in many festivals. Stephan also captained the First team at times during festivals and tournaments.
